Rand Paul stops in Hopkinsville, talks policies, national debt

United States Senator Rand Paul made a stop in Hopkinsville Monday morning, where he spoke with local leaders and community members about issues and policies in Washington D.C.

He made his visit at H&R Agri-Power and it was a full house of people eager to bring their concerns to the Senator, who did field several questions and take down complaints to bring back to the capital.  One thing that continues to concern him is the nation’s debt, and he’s worried it’s going to become a crisis sooner rather than later.

Senator Paul says his plan to cut just one percent of budgets would help mitigate the debt while still funding those much-needed programs.

On the subject of tensions with China, Senator Paul cautions against allowing fear and dislike to result in a lack of trade between two of the biggest economies in the world.

On a topic a little closer to home, Paul expressed some frustrations with how slow work is moving concerning the Farm Bill, but he did say he expects no big changes to the crop insurance program.

Many other topics were discussed, from the potential widening of Interstate 24 in Christian and Trigg Counties, funding for the conflict in Ukraine, regulations on ethanol and more.
