Vehicle, pedestrian collision results in serious injuries

The Hopkinsville Police Department and the Hopkinsville Fire Department responded to a vehicle and pedestrian collision on Fort Campbell Boulevard that resulted in serious injuries on Wednesday night.

According to a report from police, 29-year-old Cynthia Wainwright of Oak Grove was attempting to cross the boulevard on foot near Papa John’s when she was reportedly struck by a vehicle heading northbound on the boulevard driven by 29-year-old Wade Diedrich of Hopkinsville.

According to a witness who was also driving on the boulevard, they shared that they were in the left turn lane when they saw Wainwright ahead of them and they were able to stop to avoid a collision. Then Wainwright reportedly went on to run across the street and was struck by Diedrich’s vehicle who reportedly attempted to stop, but was unable to.

Wainwright was transported by helicopter to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville for treatment of her injuries.
