Residents and business owners in Christian County who are curious about the inner workings of local government are invited to participate in the City of Hopkinsville’s diplomat program.
In a news release, the city announced the upcoming sixth iteration of their diplomat program where attendees can participate in classroom sessions, interactive demonstrations and hands-on activities regarding local government operations.
Hopkinsville Mayor J.R. Knight says the city is thrilled to continue offering citizens the chance to explore the operations of city government and learn how it shapes the community. Knight also shares that the aim of the program is to empower citizens to help them be able to contribute to the betterment of the city.
The six-month long program kicks off on July 11 and then will run through December with meetings set for the first Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. following the first session.
Those who are interested can find an application at hoptown.org/diplomat or can pick up a physical copy from the Hopkinsville Municipal Center. The deadline for applications is 4:30 p.m. on May 31 and they can be submitted in person or by mail to the Municipal Center and they can be submitted by email to michelle.cavasier@h-ky.us.
