Madisonville PD: Man tried to enter police department, threatened to kill officers

A Madisonville man has been taken into custody after he allegedly threatened to kill law enforcement at the Madisonville Police Department early Thursday morning.

According to a news release from the Madisonville Police Department, at approximately 4 a.m. a suspect later identified as 36-year-old Patrick Waddle of Madisonville tried to enter the police department, armed with a handgun.

Video surveillance captured him making threats to kill officers, and when he wasn’t able to get into the building, Waddle allegedly fired a single round through the front door.  He then fled the scene.

He was later arrested at his residence on Celeste Lane, and execution of a search warrant turned up a handgun.

He was charged with first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer and second-degree criminal mischief.
