PeADD awarded state grant to improve natural disaster responses

The Pennyrile Area Development District (PeADD) was announced one of eight organizations across the state to receive a grant from Kentucky’s G.R.A.N.T. Program at Gov. Andy Beshear’s Team Kentucky Update meeting on Thursday.

The Kentucky Government Resources Accelerating Needed Transformation (G.R.A.N.T.) Program was established in 2023 with the purpose of supporting community projects by providing grants that match local government funds toward a project.

PeADD is set to receive a fund matching grant of $117,618 to support emergency response efforts to natural disasters.

According to a news release from the Department for Local Government, the funds will be used to establish a PeADD Disaster Resiliency Planner, and will supplement a grant to purchase emergency response equipment for the nine emergency management offices in the region.

Beshear says the grant awarded to PeADD is still awaiting federal approval.
