Visit Hopkinsville shares upcoming activities, promotional efforts

Amy Rogers from Visit Hopkinsville shared the bureau’s promotional efforts, recent events and upcoming tours they look forward to offering visitors who want to explore Hopkinsville at Thursday’s Hopkinsville Kiwanis Club meeting.

Rogers serves as the Finance and Operations Manager for Visit Hopkinsville, formally known as the Hopkinsville-Christian County Convention and Visitors Bureau. Rogers says she is responsible for promoting Hopkinsville and sharing what the city has to offer.

Earlier this month, the bureau hosted a delegation from Hopkinsville’s sister city, Carentan, France. Hopkinsville and Carentan were declared as sister cities after a delegation visited in 2019 to honor Fort Campbell soldiers who were responsible for liberating their city from Nazi control during World War II.

Rogers thanked those in the community who acted as host families to the delegation and showed those from the sister city what Hopkinsville is all about.

In regards to promoting Hopkinsville, Rogers shared that the bureau was contacted by a travel writer from Sweden and gave them a tour of local eateries and regional distilleries. Following the writer’s visit, Rogers says that soon an article about Hopkinsville will be published in the national travel magazine, “American Trails.”

Rogers says they have also promoted Hopkinsville in Nashville with a partnership with Carvertise where Uber and Lyft vehicles were wrapped with ads recognizing Hopkinsville as the Batter Capitol of the World.

In regards to upcoming events, Rogers says on Saturday the bureau will be hosting the regional qualifying round of the Scripps Spelling Bee at the Alhambra Theater. Along with the spelling bee, Rogers says they are working on setting up tours and initiatives to show visitors around Hopkinsville.

Rogers says they have partnered with other regional tourism bureaus to host activities for the Just Add Water and the Kentucky After Dark initiatives. For the Just Add Water initiative, Rogers says they will be spotlighting the Pennyroyal Scuba Diving Center and for the Kentucky After Dark initiative they will be partnering with the Pennyroyal Area Museum to share the legend of the Kelly Green Men.

Rogers says they are also looking forward to being a checkpoint in the Western Kentucky Distillery Tour.

Along with the upcoming activities, Rogers also shared that their website will also be having a revamp to be more current and streamline. For more information about what the bureau has planned got to visithopkinsville.com or Visit Hopkinsville on Facebook.
