Shop and Share set to benefit Sanctuary, Inc.

Britainy Beshear, Kentucky’s First Lady and ZeroV, a state coalition against domestic violence, are partnering to host the annual Shop and Share donation drive to benefit domestic violence nonprofits across the state including Sanctuary, Inc. in the Pennyrile region.

According to a news release from Beshear’s office Shop and Share is a one-day donation drive in its 15th year and invites Kentuckians to shop for what they need and share an item with local domestic violence nonprofits and shelters.

For this year’s one-day drive Beshear shares that they are working to benefit 15 nonprofits across the state and partnering with Kroger, Food City and Starbucks locations to make it happen. At a donation drive launch on Tuesday, Beshear says as the First Lady and a mother, her number one goal is to make the state a safer place for families and to do that it’s important to take a stand against domestic violence.

Lieutenant Governor, Jacqueline Coleman says since she has been in office she has participated in Shop and Share. Coleman says Shop and Share is a great place for people who want to lend a helping hand to domestic assault survivors, but may not know how to.

Beshear shared that the Shop and Share donation drive was started by Andy Beshear’s Mother and former First Lady, Jane Beshear in 2008, and says she is amazed with how much the program has grown since.

Shop and Share is on Saturday, February 10 and items can be donated at Kroger stores located in Hopkinsville, Madisonville and Powderly to benefit Sanctuary, Inc.
