Grand Jury issues indictments for drug, assault related crimes

A Christian County Grand Jury issued indictments for cases regarding drug related crimes, a reported rape, incidents of tampering with a witness and more on Friday.

Demario Sanders of Hopkinsville was indicted on two separate incidents from November 2023 regarding drug trafficking. After an incident on November 15 where law enforcement located drugs in a residence on Howell Street, Sanders was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance for fentanyl derivatives, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance for cocaine, trafficking in marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On November 30, officers from the Hopkinsville Police Department reportedly witnessed Sanders speeding in a vehicle on East Fourth Street and conducted a traffic stop. During the stop Sanders reportedly fled on foot and was found to be in possession of illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia.

Sanders was further indicted on charges of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, three counts of trafficking in a controlled substance, for heroin, synthetic drugs and methamphetamine, trafficking in marijuana, tampering with physical evidence, second-degree fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest and other lesser charges.

Eddie Hart of Hopkinsville was indicted on drug trafficking charges regarding an incident that occurred around December 3. Hart was charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first-degree possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and traffic related charges.

Turning toward assault related crimes, William Comperry of Hopkinsville was indicted on charges of second-degree strangulation and fourth-degree assault domestic violence following an incident around November 17. According to a report from local police, Comperry and a female victim had been in a disagreement and when she asked Comperry to leave he reportedly punched her in the face and then placed her in a headlock.

Dominique Jeffers of Madisonville was indicted on charges of first-degree rape and first-degree sexual abuse of a victim under 12 years of age in regards to an incident that occurred in 2019.

Daniella Maleno of Hopkinsville was indicted on charges of first-degree criminal abuse of a child under 12 years of age and tampering with a witness in October. Jamie Lienberger of Hopkinsville is also charged for tampering with a witness in relation to the same incident.
