Hopkinsville man receives federal sentence for drug trafficking

After he was arrested for drug trafficking in 2009, Morgan Hancock of Hopkinsville was arrested and sentenced to federal prison on Thursday for new drug trafficking charges.

According to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Western District of Kentucky an investigation led by the Hopkinsville Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration Post of Duty in Paducah led to Hancock’s arrest.

Hancock was sentenced to 10 years in prison with no parole, followed by 5 years of supervised release after he was found to be in possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute it as well as a firearm.

Hancock was convicted on charges of possessing cocaine with the intent to distribute it, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
