Military Affairs Committee set to host children’s bowling night

Military families in the community have been invited by the Christian County Military Affairs Committee to bowl at Southern Lanes on Wednesday where all the bowling lanes will be reserved for military children who can bowl for free.

Committee Director, Shannon Lane says he wanted to find a way to engage with military families in the community as the demanding life of serving in the armed forces can impact family time.

Lane says he decided upon this first-time bowling event as a majority of military installations across the country have bowling alleys. Along with bowling, Lane says their will be snack bar sponsored for children and a sponsored drink bar for parents.

Members from bowling teams at Christian County High School, Hopkinsville High School and Heritage Christian Academy will also be at the event to help bowlers and show them some bowling tips.

For those interested in bowling, Lane advises for each family’s active or retired service member to bring proof of service such as their Department of Defense identification card. Although the lanes are designated for military families the bar and arcade will be open to the public.

Military Children Bowling Night will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Southern Lanes on Wednesday.
