Tennessee man receives federal sentence for illegal gun possession

After being taken into custody in Hopkinsville for illegal gun possession, 44-year-old Nicholas Bryant Starks of Ripley, Tennessee was sentenced to over three years in federal prison on Monday.

According to a news release from the United States Attorney’s Office of Kentucky’s Western District, Starks was prohibited from possessing a firearm because of a 2002 felony conviction for an armed bank robbery in Memphis, Tennessee.

On October 24, 2021, Starks was found to be in possession of a semiautomatic pistol and was arrested and charged with the possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Bryant will serve a three year and one month sentence in federal prison which will be followed by three years of supervised release.

There is no parole in the federal system.
