American Red Cross puts out the call for volunteers

The holidays often bring cheer and happiness during the dreary winter months, but they can also bring with the an increase in people in need, and the American Red Cross is putting out the call of volunteers.

Volunteer Recruitment Coordinator Amanda Huffines spoke with WHOP recently and says that sadly, this time of year often brings a spike in house fires, especially as it gets colder. The American Red Cross often responds to a house fire to offer immediate aid and compassion to a family who may have just lost everything, and she says they’re in need of more volunteers to help supply that service, not just regionally, but locally as well.

If you’re interested in getting involved in their efforts, you can reach out directly to her, or go online to redcross.org/volunteer, and learn more about what it means to be apart of the Red Cross.

You can also speak with the local branch of the American Red Cross, which is located South Main Street in Hopkinsville. They’re also in need for volunteers in other areas, from blood donations to disaster response and more.
