As the result of reported brake failure, Hopkinsville Police responded to a single-vehicle wreck on Hammond Road approaching Silvey Road on Friday.
Jocelyn Childress of Hopkinsville was driving on Hammond Road when she attempted slowing down before turning on to Silvey Road. However, she reported to officers that as she pressed on her brakes the vehicle did not respond and failed to slow down.
After trying her brakes again, Childress says they did not work and she ended up driving off the roadway hitting a curb and driving through the grass until hitting a fire hydrant and coming to a stop.
The vehicle suffered damage to its front bumper, undercarriage and the front side passenger axle and wheel. Childress reported having back pain and was transported to Jennie Stuart Medical Center.
