Reported failure to yield results in two-vehicle wreck

After a driver reportedly failed to yield to the right of way, the Hopkinsville Police Department responded to a two-vehicle wreck at the intersection of South Main Street and East 9th Street on Sunday.

According to a report from police, the wreck occurred as Robert Etten of Williamsport, Tennessee was traveling with a passenger west on East 9th Street. Etten reported that he noticed the traffic light was red once he was already driving through the South Main Street intersection.

Angela Alleyne of Hopkinsville was traveling south on South Main Street and the when she approached the East 9th Street intersection, she reported that her light was green and proceeded through the intersection, but collided with Etten’s vehicle.

Alleyne hit the passenger side of Etten’s vehicle which resulted in the damage of the front passenger side fender, bumper and door. After the collision, Alleyne’s vehicle ran into a light pole at the intersection.

Following the wreck Etten reported pain to his left leg and swelling of his right hand, and his passenger reported pain to her right foot, however the pair refused EMS aid at the scene.

Alleyne was transported to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for possible injuries.
