The Executive Director of the Southwestern Kentucky Economic Development Council appeared on WHOP Friday and talked all things spec building and how they can be an asset to the community.
Carter Hendricks says the spec building located in Hopkinsville’s Commerce Park II officially has a tenant, as SK ecoplant has entered into an agreement with nearby Ascend Elements to create a location that will be focused on disassembling and shredding approximately 24,000 metric tons of used EV batteries and gigafactory scrap per year.
Focus now turns to the spec building located in Trigg County, which Hendricks says is ready to be shown off at a ribbon cutting set for November 29, and he says they’ve already seen a lot of interest.
Hendricks is hopeful they’ll establish another spec building in the Cadiz area some time in the future, looking to bring even more industries here.
They recently celebrated not just the new industries that have come here, but also the many established industries that have called this region home for numerous years, many of which are expanding and growing, creating high-paying jobs while they do so.
