For the Christian Co. Lady Colonels they are coming off of a 16-14 record complimented by a n 8th district championship.
One thing about this squad that stands out on paper is their youth. The team is comprised of 6 eighth graders, 6 freshmen, 2 sophomores, 6 juniors, and 1 senior.
Despite losing contributing seniors Sarah Harris and Evanna McGregor, Christian Co. retains their leading scorer in sophomore Anaysia Bagwell.
In her now 4th season as a Lady Colonel after starting as a 7th grader, Bagwell is very excited to start the season.
Upperclassman Lazarie Daniel is also expected to be a bigger part of the team this year and talked about the work she’s put in to become a better perimeter shooter.
For those who have followed previous Lady Colonel teams led by Kiki Radford, they know that defense is the main staple of her program. And in order to have a successful defense, anchors are needed to lead the charge.
Junior NeVaeh Day embraces that role and looks forward to acting in it even more than last season.
Coach Radford who is in her 8th year as the head coach of the Christian Co. Lady Colonels, gave some insight on the season ahead and expressed her excitement.
As a sophomore, Anaysia Bagwell has 988 points making her 12 points away from the thousand mark. Around the region, she is known to be one of, if not the best player. Bagwell was asked how she handled the noise. Her response:
As the seasons begins and progresses, Coach Radford explained that she expects mistakes from her young team, but also improvements for her players and knowledge from making mistakes.
The Lady Colonels will begin their season on the road at Muhlenberg Co. on November 28th.
Their first home game will be against Madisonville-North Hopkins on December 5th.
