UHA’s Griffin McCoy wins Player of the Week

This week’s Jennie Stuart Orthopedic – Michael Venable State Farm Player of the Week is UHA junior soccer player Griffin McCoy.

Griffin leads his team in scoring with 15 goals scored so far in the season and he is also tied for most assists with 6.

When asked how his journey into soccer began, McCoy mentioned that he’d been playing for years but that his mindset on the sport changed going into high school.

When it comes to his improvement throughout his first three years now in high school, working on his nutrition and running track, are some of the things he feels have contributed.

UHA soccer head coach Josh Nichols, gave his input on coaching Griffin and talked about how impactful his presence has been for the team.

The Blazers currently have a 9-5-1 record and just had a 5-game winning streak end after a loss to Henderson Co. With just a few games left in the regular season, McCoy discussed some of his goals for the team.

Next up for Griffin and the Blazers is the Bruin Classic at Elizabethtown Sportspark this Saturday as they will take on John Hardin at 9:00 AM and Collins later in the day at 1:00 PM.
