Democratic Attorney General Candidate Pam Stevenson made a campaign pitstop at Corner Coffeehouse in Hopkinsville where she had coffee with residents and shared her plans for Kentucky if elected as the next Attorney General.
Stevenson is a native Kentuckian who has represented part of Jefferson County in the Kentucky House of Representatives since 2021. Before she started her work in government and legal affairs Stevenson had a career in the United States Air Force for 27 years before retiring in 2011.
After retiring from the military Stevenson says she wanted to continue her work in public service, but take those services back home to Kentucky where she started a nonprofit law firm to take care of veterans, the elderly and children. Stevenson says her work eventually led to her becoming a state representative.
Running for Attorney General, Stevenson says she wants to the office to be the people’s office focusing on the needs of Kentuckians and for it to not be inundated by politics. To reach all Kentuckians, Stevenson says she wants to reopen the Attorney General satellite offices throughout the state.
Along with her plans to reestablish local offices, Stevenson also addressed issues she believes Kentucky is facing such as crime and drug addiction.
In regards to drug addiction Stevenson says although it is a state problem, the issue shows up differently in each county therefore it may need an individualized county approach rather than a statewide approach.
Stevenson is running against Republican candidate Russell Coleman and both of their names will be on the 2023 Kentucky Attorney General election ballot on November 7.
