Two people were arrested following a pursuit in Hopkinsville early Thursday morning.
The Hopkinsville Police Department reports that officers were patrolling in the area of Calvin Drive near Bradshaw Road when they witnessed a vehicle traveling west on Calvin Drive at 55 miles per hour in a 35 miles per hour zone. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop and that’s when the vehicle allegedly made a turn onto Bradshaw Road and began to accelerate.
A pursuit began and continued over to North Cherokee Trace Boulevard, where the occupants reportedly abandoned the vehicle and continued to flee on foot.
Thirty-four-year old Bryson Lumbard of Hopkinsville and 34-year-old Jessica Lacy of Cadiz were located a short time later hiding nearby. Lumbard allegedly told officers he had fled due to having a warrant out for his arrest, and Lacy said she fled for the same reason.
A search of the vehicle allegedly revealed drug paraphernalia.
Both were arrested and charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police on foot and Lacy was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Lumbard was also charged with fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle) speeding, reckless driving and several traffic violations.
