Joy Closet director highlights upcoming community events

After having a successful Back 2 School Bash on August 5, Heather Gray the founder of director of Joy Closet appeared on WHOP on Thursday to express appreciation for the community’s support and share what events the nonprofit has in store.

Joy Closet’s second annual Back 2 School Bash served to ensure students were ready for the school year with fresh haircuts, shoes and school supplies. Gray says she is thankful for the community members that helped bring the event to life.

Joy Closet’s Growing Hope Banquet is set for August 29 at 6 p.m. at New Work Fellowship. Gray says the Banquet is an opportunity to show the community the impact they have had on Joy Closet and the nonprofit’s plans for the future.

One Gray’s visions for the future is to establish the Hope House which will provide housing for children who are displaced or have been removed from their homes while social workers find a placement for them. The Banquet is free to the public, but those planning to attend are required to RSVP and can do so on Facebook at the Joy Closet Banquet event page.

Gray says Banquet guests will also receive testimonials from social workers, front line works and members of Joy Closet’s Eagle Fly Program regarding the work being done at Joy Closet.

Along with the Banquet, Gray says she’s also looking forward to Hoptown Ninja Warrior on September 30 at 9 a.m. at the Stadium of Champions.

Competition tickets and sponsorship positions for Hoptown Ninja Warrior are on sale at JoyCloset.org.
