Two Hopkinsville residents charged with drug trafficking

Two Hopkinsville residents are facing several drug trafficking charges following an investigation by Hopkinsville police Saturday.

According to the Hopkinsville police report, officers reportedly saw 58-year-old Ricky Holmes and 44-year-old Ruth Cooper stop next to a running vehicle at a gas station on East Ninth Street and making a hand-to-hand exchange with an individual. Officers reportedly saw drug paraphernalia and an open alcohol container in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle reportedly revealed an amount of methamphetamine, a small digital scale and other items.

A search of the hotel room they were staying in on Fort Campbell Boulevard allegedly revealed 21 hydocodone pills, 26 grams of cocaine, one gram of meth, synthetic marijuana and various drug paraphernalia. A tow truck company later located approximately 17 grams of meth that was in a wheel well on the vehicle as it was being towed.

Holmes was arrested and charged with trafficking in meth, trafficking in cocaine, trafficking in a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence, possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of synthetic drugs, driving on a DUI suspended license and possession of an open alcohol container in a motor vehicle.

Cooper is charged with meth trafficking, trafficking in cocaine, trafficking in a controlled substance, possession of meth and synthetic drugs, tampering with physical evidence and public intoxication.
