The Hoptown Hoppers played a back and forth game against the Bowling Green Pistons on Thursday Night inside Colonel Field.
This game presented itself to the Hoppers as a chance of revenge, as the Pistons gave the Hoppers their worst loss of the season at home with a 26-4 outcome.
In the end, it was the Hoppers that pulled through in the bottom of the ninth winning 12-11.
The game started off on a positive side for the Hoppers as they scored three runs in the top of the first inning.
The Hoppers then struck back in the second inning scoring five runs aided by five hits.
Back to back errors in the top of the third helped add four runs for the Pistons to take back the lead 7-5.
The Pistons then went on to extend their lead to 9-5 after scoring two runs in the fourth. but it was a two-run homer in the inning by Robert Estrada that helped shrink the deficit to two.
The 5th inning turned out to be the only inning that saw both teams scoreless.
The Hoppers took the lead after scoring four runs with two each coming in the sixth and seventh which made it an 11-9 contest.
The Pistons knotted things up scoring two runs in the eighth, after a hit-by-pitch and two walks loaded the based with no outs.
The Hoppers were then given a chance to take the lead in the bottom of the eighth after two errors put the first two batters in the lineup with no outs.
The Hoppers would then see those batters make it to second and third base still with no outs, but solid pitching from the Pistons stopped any runs from scoring.
Cannon Anthony then solidified himself as the winning pitcher after two strikeouts and a throw-out from home plate to second tallied up the three outs.
Hoptown then saw a bottom of the ninth inning with their first three batters in the lineup on deck. Reid Douglas was the first out after a pop out to to first base.
Sam Perkins however provided a big shot to left-center field for a double. Luis Vergara then walked and Tate VanHooser was hit by a pitch, which set up loaded bases for Carter Hood.
After facing a 3-1 count, Hood was struck by a ball to advance Perkins to the plate for the fourth and final lead change.
That throw was the ninth time Hood has been hit this season, which is second in the Ohio Valley League and one shy of the most.
The big takeaways from the game was the lack of pitching and 7 errors for Bowling Green. The Pistons threw two pitchers in the contest compared to the six for Hoptown.
Malcolm Rollon threw the first five innings for the Pistons and had 115 pitches. Caden Wilburn the starting pitcher for the Hoppers lead the Hoppers with the most pitches throwing 54.
This became the 11th win of the season for the Hoppers as they are now 11-15 on the season.
The Hoppers travel on Friday to face the Fulton Railroaders at 6:30 PM.
