There is a chance for severe storms in the area Sunday, particularly Sunday afternoon and evening as the bulk of western Kentucky is currently in a slight risk for severe weather, with portions of Christian County and all of Todd County and counties to our east in an enhanced risk.
While the forecast is tricky, any storms that do develop in the afternoon and evening hours will carry a severe risk, with damaging winds and large hail the primary threats, but an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. Storms are still possible in the morning hours Sunday, with isolated damaging winds possible with those storms.
On top of any strong storms that may develop, the heat index will likely reach its highest so far this year—some areas could reach a heat index of 100 to 105 degrees Sunday afternoon.
