One flown, one arrested in Petsch Lane shooting

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a woman was shot in the leg early Saturday morning on Petsch Lane.

According to the Christian County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded responded to a residence in the 100 block Petsch Lane around 1 a.m. for reports that a person had been shot. Upon arrival, they made contact with the 41-year-old female victim, who had a gunshot wound to her upper leg.

She was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she is listed in stable condition.

Investigation determined that the victim and 47-year-old Jeffrey Proffitt had reportedly been in an argument when he retrieved a handgun and brandished it while they were arguing. The gun went off, striking the victim in the leg.

Proffitt was arrested and charged with first-degree assault and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
