The Christian County Chamber of Commerce handed out awards, celebrated with members and heard from the co-founder of Square at Thursday night’s annual Chamber Dinner.
Speaking on innovation and how to make it in a world where your competitors are always bigger than you, Jim McKelvey says everyone who ever creates something new is unqualified to do so—but they choose to take that step and that risk and change the world for the better.
He also urged people to push the boundaries of the field they are in, to see what they can change to make things easier for those who will follow after them.
Several awards were handed out during the dinner, including the Bob Kelso Ambassador of the Year Award to Kayleigh Colley, and the Young Professional of the Year was presented to Cody Noffsinger. The Hopkinsville Industrial Foundation took home the Keystone Award and the President’s Award went to Nikki Chambers, with Chamber President Taylor Hayes saying she has been a source of wisdom and advocacy.
Outgoing Board Chair Jim Blair says he’s proud of the work the board and the staff at the Chamber have been able to accomplish, and he feels the future is bright.
He passed the gavel to incoming Board Chair Eyvette Sellers, who closed out the evening and will serve as the chair for 2023-2024.
