Trenton remembers those who died for freedom at Memorial Day service

About 50 people gathered Sunday afternoon at Trenton’s Edgewood Cemetery as that small town again remembered those who sacrificed everything for freedom during this Memorial Day weekend.

Mayor Martha Jo Ray introduced the keynote speaker—Marine veteran and local business owner Jason House—who reminded that Memorial Day is a time to not only remember the fallen, but to also not take for granted the freedom they died preserving.

House says he remembers those he fought with who died in conflict during this Memorial Day weekend.

Todd County Middle School teacher Julie Hamlet reads the names of all known veterans from the Trenton area each year and she noted those who died did so for millions of people they didn’t know and those in the future they can never know.

Will Shelton performed the playing of Taps and Mike Nusser sang Some Gave All during the half-hour service.
