Christian County’s head baseball coach Cole Isom on last night’s semifinal win and tonight’s Region Championship

Last night the Christian County Colonels defeated the Madisonville-North Hopkins Maroons 14-2 in five innings after a “walk off” 3-run homer from Eddie Davis to end the game in five innings due to mercy rule. Gage Montes pitched the whole way through and was awarded the semifinal win as the Colonels will look to play against Henderson County tonight in the Region Championship at 6:00 PM.

Head coach Cole Isom spoke on how big last night’s win was and how much momentum he felt was gained for the team.

Madisonville-North Hopkins drew first blood in the top of the first inning scoring one run and Isom explained how the Colonels were not fazed as they have preached a  “build a fence on the scoreboard” mentality all season.

When asked about the game-plan, Isom made it very clear that Elijah Underhill would be heavily depended on in this contest and that he has taken control as a leader on this team. Isom also confirmed a fairly large assumption that Underhill will be the starting pitcher in the championship game, and explained why he and catcher Bobby Irving will need to play well against the Henderson County offense.

The 2nd Region Championship game will be taking place at Henderson County tonight at 6:00 PM and coverage will start at 5:45 PM on News Radio 99.3 FM/1230 AM WHOP.
