The Logan Todd Regional Water Commission celebrated 20 years Tuesday afternoon, and Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear presented roughly $2.4 million worth of funding from the Cleaner Water Program.
The money was spread out over multiple agencies, cities and water districts across the Todd and Logan County areas, and Governor Beshear says it’s a testament to people working together to get things done that benefit their people, as everyone has the right to clean water.
Board Chairman John Mason Barnes says they’re averaging roughly eight million gallons of water that makes its way through the water plant in Guthrie, but that wasn’t always the case, as they had their share of difficulties when they first began 20 years ago.
Mike McGhee says he sat on that board back then, and he thinks it’s amazing what they accomplished, and is proud of how far they have come.
At the celebration, Governor Beshear presented numerous checks, including $185,000 checks to the City of Elkton, the City of Lewisburg, the City of Adairville, the City of Auburn, the City of Russellville, the Todd County Water District, the Logan Todd Regional Water Commission, the East Logan Water District and the North Logan Water District.
The City of Elkton also received a check for $247,900, as did the Todd Logan Water Commission for the same amount and the Todd County Water District. The South Logan Water Association received amounts of $105,150 and $80,000.
