Cameron makes campaign stop in Hopkinsville

Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron was on the campaign trail in Hopkinsville Thursday morning as he seeks the Republican nomination for governor.

He made his case to about 20 people at the Christian County Republican Party Headquarters that he’s the most well-suited of the 12 candidates to defeat incumbent Democrat Andy Besehar in November.

Asked if he’d support any new gun control measures, Cameron says he would veto any potential red flag laws and he’d oppose any restriction that could prevent Kentuckians from having the ‘weapon of their choice.’

Regarding abortion, Cameron says he’s proud that his defense of pro-life legislation has helped keep abortion clinics closed in Kentucky the last several months after Roe v. Wade was overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court.

If he’s elected, Cameron says he’ll join other Republican governors in investing in coal and natural gas.

Cameron again criticized Governor Beshear for his response to the pandemic and reiterated that he’d oppose any new vaccine mandates.
