Arraignment held for East 18th St. murder suspect

Arraignment was held Thursday morning in Christian District Court for the suspect accused of fatally shooting a woman Wednesday afternoon at a home on East 18th Street in Hopkinsville.

Judge Foster Cotthoff confirmed 65-year old Earl Guillemet of Hopkinsville understood the charges against him during the hearing.

The judge entered a not guilty plea on his behalf and set bond at a half-million dollars.

Hopkinsville police allege Guillemet shot 59-year old Dolores Hernandez of Hopkinsville inside the home in the 300 block of East 18th about 1:15 p.m. Wednesday. He then allegedly threw away items related to the investigation and drove away in a silver truck.

He was arrested later in the day and charged with murder, tampering with evidence and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
