Traffic stop leads to arrest on drug, gun charges

A traffic stop on West Seventh Street Saturday night led to the arrest of the driver on stolen gun and drug charges.

An arrest citation for 20-year old Jeremiah Anderson of Hopkinsville says he was stopped by Hopkinsville police in the 1100 block of West Seventh for only having one headlight and that there was a strong odor of marijuana coming from the automobile.

A search of his car allegedly revealed a large bag of marijuana, two sets of digital scales and a handgun tucked between the seat and console.

Police say he admitted possession of the marijuana and said he knew about the gun, but claimed it wasn’t his.

Anderson was charged with trafficking in marijuana, receiving a stolen firearm, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with one headlight.
