EDC to host Jobs Fest 2023 in April

The South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council will be hosting a jobs festival in April focused on high school students looking to join the workforce after graduation.

Appearing on WHOP Friday, Executive Director Carter Hendricks says they’re excited to bring Jobs Fest 2023 to the area on April 27, with more information to come, and he says they’re still looking for businesses interested in taking part in the event to show what jobs are available locally.

He says roughly 40 percent of students right out of high school will choose to enter the work force, and this is a chance to help them find secure, high paying jobs.

Hendricks says they’re close to launching their Job Seekers page on their website, where anyone can go online and see what jobs are available at local industries.

Hendricks says industries like Ascend Elements are certainly looking to hire as they start building in the community, but apart from that, already established businesses are always looking for employees and have good starting pay that can increase over time.
