Crews continue to restore power after Friday’s wind

Efforts continue to restore power in the region after Friday’s severe weather and historic gusty winds put as many people in the dark locally as the 2009 ice storm.

Brent Gilkey with Pennryile says as of about 6 o’clock this morning, there were just under 3,800 Pennyrile Electric members still without power—down from over 25,000 on Friday.

They hope to have everyone capable of receiving power back online early this week.

Gilkey says additional contractors are expected to arrive in the area today.

Most of the remaining outages are smaller and isolated.

Hopkinsville Electric System General Manger Jeff Hurd says they have restored power to all HES customers with the exception of those that have damage to their service entrance that requires an electrician.

Kentucky Utilities has restored all of its outages in western Kentucky, including the ones near Crofton.
