Legislators expect busy, short week in Frankfort

With about a third of the 2023 session of the Kentucky General Assembly in the books, lawmakers will resume their efforts Tuesday in Frankfort.

Eighth District Representative Walker Thomas of Hopkinsville chairs the Veterans, Military Affairs, & Public Protection Committee and says they will soon be hearing House Bill 220, which would help members of the military deployed overseas to renew their Kentucky driver’s license wherever they are.

Representative Myron Dossett of Pembroke is hopeful legislation he’s co-sponsoring will move along in the process soon, as it would make it easier for more retired law enforcement men and women to re-enter the workforce as school resource officers.

Senator Whitney Westerfield expects a busy week, but says his online consumer privacy bill may be dead after it hit an unforeseen delay last week.

This week’s legislative calendar is only four-days long due to the President’s Day holiday.
