Elkton gets League of Cities grant to help fund recent park upgrades

The City of Elkton has received a $3,000 2022 Liability Grant from the Kentucky League of Cities to help make the playground safer at the City-County Park.

KLC members receive the money to help fund various programs and services that reduce liability and make the community safer.

City Clerk Laura Brock says they money is being used to pay for the recently installed pour-in-place rubber safety surface in the park.

KLC Executive Director and CEO James Chaney says, “KLC is proud to be able to help our members provide important safety initiatives. These funds will help ensure the safety of city employees and the public. We appreciate the city’s commitment to making safety a priority.”

Elkton also received a $23,000 grant from the state last year for the safer surface, with the city and county governments providing the necessary match through in-kind labor.
