Morning storms produce hail, no major damage or injuries

Hail was reported with several thunderstorms that blew across Western Kentucky this morning, but there have been no reports of major damage or injuries with any of the severe weather.

The severe thunderstorm watch that was in effect has expired and temperatures will fall for the rest of the day after the cold front is through the area.

Trigg and several other area counties were under severe thunderstorm warnings at times this morning and pea-sized hail was reported southwest of Cadiz, near Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville and in the Pembroke area—according to the National Weather Service.

Large hail covered the ground after a storm earlier this morning in the Possum Trot community of Marshall County and the weather service says golf ball-sized hail fell about two miles west of Sebree in Webster County.

Golf ball-sized hail was also reported in Marion with a storm shortly after 2 a.m.

The good news is there is no more severe weather in the forecast, but the bad news is we go back into the freezer Friday, when high temperatures will be in the upper 30’s.
