Deone Walker Named SEC co-Defensive Lineman of the Week
Freshman defensive lineman Deone Walker was named Southeastern Conference co-Defensive Lineman of the Week after his impactful performance in Kentucky’s 26-13 Governor’s Cup victory over Louisville, the league announced Monday. Walker made multiple big plays at crucial times of the game as he totaled six tackles, one-half quarterback sack plus one-half additional tackle for loss, caused a fumble and had two quarterback hurries.
No. 4 Cardinals Win Four Top ACC Awards, Five Named First Team All-ACC
Atlantic Coast Conference Co-Champion Louisville earned four of the five season awards, while Wake Forest claimed another to headline the 2022 All-ACC Volleyball honors announced Monday. Louisville graduate student outside hitter Claire Chaussee earned ACC Player of the Year, while her teammate, senior middle blocker Amaya Tillman was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Year. Louisville’s Raquel Lazaro was tabbed the ACC Setter of the Year and Wake Forest’s Emma Farrell was voted the ACC Freshman of the Year. After leading the Cardinals to a regular season 26-2 regular-season record and third consecutive ACC Championship, Dani Busboom Kelly was named the ACC Coach of the Year for the third straight year and third time in her career. The ACC season awards, as well as the All-ACC teams, were determined by a vote of the league’s 15 head coaches.
Azhani Tealer and Emma Grome Snag Final SEC Weekly Awards
Azhani Tealer was named the Southeastern Conference’s Defensive Player of the Week and Emma Grome won the SEC Setter of the Week title for the seventh time of the season, the league office announced Monday afternoon. Kentucky swept South Carolina twice over the weekend to secure its sixth-consecutive SEC championship.
Emma Grome Named SEC Player of the Year; UK Puts Four on All-SEC
Kentucky Volleyball player Emma Grome was named the Southeastern Conference’s Player of the Year as UK won the award for the fifth-straight season as Grome joins Leah Edmond (2018, 2019), Madison Lilley (2020) and Alli Stumler (2021) in the past half decade to win the award for the Wildcats. Grome was also joined by outside hitter Adanna Rollins, opposite Reagan Rutherford and middle blocker Azhani Tealer as the four members representing Kentucky on the All-Southeastern Conference Team. With four players, Kentucky comprised the most players of any institution in the league.
DeMier, Miller Named MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team

Chris Kappas named AFCA FCS Assistant Coach of the Year
Austin Peay State University assistant head football coach and defensive coordinator Chris Kappas has been named the 2022 American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Football Championship Series (FCS) Assistant Coach of the Year, Tuesday.
Cards Place 12 on All-ACC Team; Abdullah Earns First Team Honors
The University of Louisville football team saw 12 of its players claim All-Atlantic Coast Conference status as announced Tuesday by the conference office. Linebacker Yasir Abdullah headlined the group by earning first-team honors, while offensive linemen Caleb Chandler and Bryan Hudson and wide receiver Tyler Hudson captured second team accolades. Defensive end Yaya Diaby, placekicker James Turner and cornerback Kei’Trel Clark were tabbed on the third team. Running back Tiyon Evans, tight end Marshon Ford, offensive tackle Renato Brown, defensive end Ashton Gillotte, linebacker Momo Sanogo and punter Mark Vassett earned honorable mention.
Hailey Van Lith Named to Wade Award Watch List
University of Louisville junior guard Hailey Van Lith was named to the Wade Watch List for the 2023 Wade Trophy, the Women’s Basketball Association announced this morning. The Wade Trophy is presented to the best player in college women’s basketball. Van Lith has been selected for all three player of the year watch lists this season as she was named to the Naismith Trophy Women’s Watch List and the Wooden Award Watch List earlier this season. She was also named to the preseason All-ACC team, the Drysdale Award Watch List and a preseason All-American by The Athletic.
Jalen Geiger Named to SEC Community Good Works Team
Junior defensive back Jalen Geiger has been named to the Southeastern Conference Community Service Good Works Team, it was announced Wednesday by the league office.

Racer volleyball’s Bailey DeMier has been named as one of 12 Missouri Valley Conference Fall 2022 State Farm Good Neighbor Award recipients as announced Wednesday.
Juwuan Jones Represents WKU on C-USA All-Academic Team
WKU redshirt senior defensive end Juwuan Jones has been named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team the league announced Thursday. Jones is a third-time All-Academic Team selection (2020, 2021) and boasts a 4.00 GPA in Intercollegiate Athletic Administration. Jones is a two-time recipient of the C-USA Commissioner’s Academic Medal and member of the Commissioner’s Honor Roll. In 13 games this season, he has compiled 39 tackles, three TFL, 1.5 sacks, two hurries and an interception and a fumble recovery. Jones was also named to the CSC Academic All-District Team earlier this season, and is already a two-time Academic All-American.
