Madisonville man arrested on drug trafficking charges

An investigation of several drug overdoses in Hopkins County has led to the arrest of a man on drug trafficking charges.

A news release says the Madisonville-Hopkins County VICE/Narcotics Unit investigated multiple overdoses involving Fentanyl, including multiple deaths.

Beginning this year, the unit has been investigating an alleged large scale drug trafficking organization involving 21-year old Demario Murray of Madisonville.

Police say detectives conducted multiple controlled purchases of large quantities of counterfeit Percocet pills containing Fentanyl.

On Thursday, police executed a search warrant at the residence located at 425 East Broadway in Madisonville. Detectives say they located a large amount of cash, a Glock 9mm handgun, and approximately one thousand counterfeit Fentanyl pills.

Murray was arrested and lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center for trafficking in fentanyl and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
