Country music star and Kentucky native Loretta Lynn is dead at the age of 90.
A statement from her family said she died in her sleep at her Hurricane Mills, Tennessee ranch on Tuesday morning.
Lynn is known for songs including “Coal Miner’s Daughter”, which was turned into an award-winning movie.
She had multiple gold albums from a career that spanned nearly 60 years.
Lynn suffered a stroke in 2017 that finally stopped her from touring after 57 years.
Governor Andy Beshear issued a statement saying, “Today, all of Kentucky mourns the loss of our very own Loretta Lynn. She was a legend who blazed a trail in country music while telling the stories of Appalachia and Kentucky. She will be greatly missed, but her words and impact will live on forever.”
