The Christian County Sheriff’s Department has arrested a Hopkinsville man on burglary charges, after he allegedly attempted to steal a vehicle but was held at gunpoint by the owner.
According to a news release, deputies responded to a home on Gracey Herndon Road around 7:15 p.m. Friday morning for reports of a suspect breaking into a garage and attempting to steal a vehicle. When deputies arrived, the owner of the home had the suspect—28-year-old Nathan Wasson of Hopkinsville—at gunpoint in the garage, while Wasson was sitting in the vehicle.
The ignition had reportedly been punched out and there were burglary tools found in Wasson’s possession—Wasson was also allegedly wearing a mask to conceal his identity.
He was arrested and charged with third-degree burglary, first-degree criminal mischief, possession of burglary tools and public intoxication.
