>>Cubs Come Back To Beat Marlins

(Miami, FL)  — The Cubs came away with a 2-1 win over the Marlins in Miami to snap their three-game skid.  David Bote hit a game-tying home run in the top of the seventh inning as well as a sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth to help lift Chicago to victory.  Adbert Alzolay was credited with his first win of the season after pitching a pair of scoreless innings of relief.  Chicago improved to 63-and-85.  The Cubs send Marcus Stroman to the mound against Miami tonight.

Atlanta Braves 3, Washington Nationals 2

(Cumberland, GA)  — Travis d’Arnaud and Dansby Swanson homered as the Braves edged the Nationals 3-2 in Cumberland.  Charlie Morton gave up just one run over five and a third innings for Atlanta.  Kenley Jansen added his 36th save of the season for the Braves, who are 93-and-55.  Atlanta remains one game back of the Mets for first in the NL East.

>>Padres Blank Cardinals Behind Clevinger

(San Diego, CA)  — Mike Clevinger and three relievers combined on a five-hitter as the Padres blanked the Cardinals 5-0 in San Diego.  Clevinger pitched scoreless ball into the sixth inning for the win.  Ha-Seong Kim homered, while Jake Cronenworth knocked in two runs for the Friars, who have won four in-a-row.  The Padres now sit a game-and-a-half ahead of Philadelphia for the second NL Wild Card.  Albert Pujols had two of the five hits for St. Louis, which has dropped two straight.  Adam Wainwright was tagged for four runs in six frames and fell to 11-and-10 with the loss.

>>Red Sox Take Game One In Cincinnati

(Cincinnati, OH) — The Red Sox bashed their way to a 5-3 victory over the Reds in Cincinnati. Boston belted three home runs as Brayan Bello held the Reds to one run over five innings of work to secure his second career win. Rob Refsnyder, J.D. Martinez and Rafael Devers each went deep. TJ Friedl hit a solo shot in the loss for Cincinnati, which fell to 58-and-90. The Red Sox improved their record to 72-and-75.

>>Cardinals Send Down Gorman

(San Diego, CA)  — The Cardinals are sending one of their top prospects back to the minors.  The team optioned second baseman Nolan Gorman to Triple-A Memphis yesterday.  Gorman is hitting just .226 with 14 home runs and 35 RBI this season.  In a corresponding move, the team recalled outfielder Juan Yepez.
