>>Reds Drop Sixth Straight, Pirates Sweep Series

(Cincinnati, OH)  — The Reds are forgetting what winning feels like after the Pirates completed the sweep in their 10-4 victory.  Nick Lodolo got the loss despite pitching six-and-one-third innings and giving up three runs while striking out 11.  Oneil Cruz and Rodolfo Castro each crushed homers for Pittsburgh who took all four games in the series.  The Reds have lost six in-a-row and will try to earn their first victory since last Friday when they take on Cardinals in Saint Louis tonight.

San Francisco Giants 4, Atlanta Braves 1

>>Braves Fall To Giants

(San Francisco, CA)  — The Braves fell 4-1 to the Giants in the series finale in San Francisco.  Robbie Grossman drove in the lone run for Atlanta.  Charlie Morton allowed four runs over five and a third innings for the Braves.  Atlanta is 88-and-55 on the season.  The Braves host the Phillies tonight.

>>Cubs Sweep Mets In New York

(Flushing, NY)  — The Cubs exploded for six runs in the first inning as they beat the Mets 6-3 in Flushing.  Yan Gomes and P.J. Higgins each hit a two-run double to highlight the big inning.  Drew Smyly collected his seventh win on the mound after allowing two runs, one earned, over five frames.  Mark Leiter Jr. notched his second save for Chicago, which swept the series and improved to 61-and-82.  The Cubs return home to face the Rockies tomorrow night.

St. Louis Cardinals 4, Milwaukee Brewers 1

>>Cardinals Extend NL Central Lead

(St. Louis, MO)  — The Cardinals celebrated Adam Wainwright and Yadier Molina’s record-breaking night with a 4-1 win over the Milwaukee Brewers at Busch Stadium.  Wainwright earned his 11th win after holding the Brewers to one run in five innings, while Yadier Molina drove in a run with a single in the second.  Nolan Arenado and Lars Nootbaar each homered in the victory, and Ryan Helsley picked up his 17th save.  St. Louis increases their NL Central lead to eight games over Milwaukee with an 84-and-59 record.  Miles Mikolas starts for St. Louis against the Reds tonight.

>>Wainwright, Molina Set Battery-Mate Record

(St. Louis, MO)  — Adam Wainwright and Yadier Molina have made history.  The Cardinals starting pitcher and catcher started their 325th game together on Wednesday, breaking the MLB record for most games started by a battery pairing.  Wainwright and Molina passed former Tigers Mickey Lolich and Bill Freehan, who made 324 starts together between 1963 and 1975.  The Cardinals pairing made their first start together in April of 2007.

>>Cubs OF Ortega To Miss Rest Of Season

(Flushing, NY)  — Rafael Ortega’s 2022 campaign is coming to an end.  The Cubs placed the outfielder on the 60-day injured list yesterday after he fractured his left ring finger against the Mets on Tuesday.  The team called up Jared Young from Triple-A to take Ortega’s spot on the roster.  In other team news, NBC Sports reports that Giants pitcher Carlos Rodon is interested in playing for the Cubs next season.
