The Christian County School Board heard a school safety update at Thursday’s meeting and approved a working budget for this school year.
Assistant Superintendent Josh Hunt says all schools are staffed with a School Resource Officer and they’re settling in nicely to their new duties and responsibilities—they also continue to conduct random metal detection in the schools while conducting safety drills of all types. He says one measure they intend to get going soon are student ID badges, which he says they will visibly wear while on campus or at off-campus events.
The working budget in the amount of $132 million was approved unanimously, with Finance Director Jessica Darnall saying a good chunk of that is grant funding, and they’ll have an 15 percent contingency fund.
The CCPS Technology Department was presented with the Stillwell Award from the Kentucky Department of Education, and Director Jason Wilson says it was well earned and deserved as the department fought to benefit the students throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
Board member Tiffany Mumford-Brame volunteered and was selected to serve on the 2023-2024 calendar committee.
