>>Reds Lose To Pirates 6-3 After Big Inning

(Cincinnati, OH)  — The Reds lost to the Pirates 6-3 after giving up a big inning.  The team lead 2-1 heading into the top of the fifth until Rodolfo Castro crushed a three-run homer and Diego Castillo blasted a two-run shot as part of a five-run inning for the Pirates.  Mike Minor got the loss after pitching five innings and giving up four runs on seven hits.  Cincy will try and bounce back this afternoon as they continue to host Pittsburgh.

>>Cubs Take Opener Against Mets

(Flushing, NY)  — The Cubs are opening their three-game series in Flushing with a 5-2 victory over the Mets.  Javier Assad collected his first win of the year after holding New York to one run over six innings.  Rafael Ortega and Zach McKinstry each hit a home run for Chicago, which improved to 59-and-82.  Adrian Sampson takes the mound for the Cubs against the Mets tonight.

San Francisco Giants 3, Atlanta Braves 2

>>Giants Stave Off Late Rally, Take Down Braves

(San Francisco, CA)  — The Giants staved off a late rally from the Braves in their 3-2 victory at home.  The team led 3-0 heading into the eighth inning until Atlanta’s Dansby Swanson singled-in two runs to cut the deficit to one.  The Braves managed to get the tying run on second in the ninth, but Scott Alexander shut down the rally to earn the save.  The Braves remain a game-and-a-half behind the Mets for first place in the NL East after New York also lost on Monday.

Braves third baseman Austin Riley says they had their chances but didn’t cash in.

Braves manager Brian Snitker says they have time to get rolling again.

(St. Louis, MO)  — The Cardinals will try to widen the gap in the NL Central when they host the Milwaukee Brewers at Busch Stadium tonight.  St. Louis is 83-and-58 and holds an eight-game lead over the second-place Brewers.  Jordan Montgomery starts for the Cardinals in game one of the series tonight.

(St. Louis, MO)  — Tickets for the Cardinals 2022 postseason run go on sale on Friday.  Fans can secure their spot for three potential home games in the Wild Card Round as well as the three potential home games in the NLDS.  Tickets officially go on sale at 2PM on Friday, but early access is available to people who place a deposit on season tickets.
