Rep. Dossett discusses special session of General Assembly

If all goes as planned, members of the Kentucky General Assembly will have measures approved by the end of the special session on Friday to provide relief to communities that were hit by devastating floods in eastern Kentucky.

A SAFE fund will be created, similar to one created after a series of tornadoes moved through western KY last December and there will be support to help get schools reopened in the affected areas.

Ninth District state Representative Myron Dossett of Pembroke says lawmakers and state government can use information they gained from response to the December tornadoes in western Kentucky to better help the communities affected by flooding.

He says a focus on helping towns, counties and school systems affected by both disasters is a priority.

Dossett agrees with the governor that leaders on both sides of the aisle have come together in a non-partisan way to prepare for a successful and brief special session for eastern Kentucky.

At least 39 people were killed by eastern Kentucky flooding and two women remain missing.
