The superintendent of Todd County Schools has been named a Healthy Kentucky Champion by the Foundation for A Healthy Kentucky.
According to a news release, Superintendent Mark Thomas is one of seven Healthy Kentucky Champions—the award recognizes individuals dedicated to improving the health of Kentuckians at a community or state level. The Foundation cites that Superintendent Thomas was instrumental in establishing the “AXIS Program: Centering All Services” in the district.
The program addresses students’ social and emotional well-being through mental health case management, while assisting with basic needs such as nutrition, clothing, housing, transportation and more. The program is expanding to include parenting classes, along with mental health awareness programs for both students and staff.
