Bentzel says school board could reduce tax rate Thursday night

While the initial plan was for the Christian County School Board to keep property tax rates the same when they meet Thursday night, Superintendent Chris Bentzel says it’s possible they may actually make a slight cut.

Appearing Wednesday morning on WHOP, Bentzel said there has been discussion among board members that they could make a cut and still meet their budget obligations.

The current proposed general fund tax levy of 42.2  would be a tenth of a cent reduction from the current rate of 42.3 cents per $100 of assessed value on real property and the proposed 42.8 cents on personal property represents no change.

There will be a public hearing at the Board of Education on Glass Avenue at 5:30 p.m. Thursday to hear public comments prior to the regular 6 p.m. meeting.
