Unemployment up from May to June, down from a year ago

Unemployment was up from May to June in all nine Pennyrile counties, but it was down across the region from one year ago.

Chrsitian County’s jobless rate is 5.4 percent, up from 4.9 percent in May and down from 7.4 percent in June of 2021. It equated to 1,360 people who were looking for work, but were unable to find it.

Todd County maintains the lowest jobless rate in the region at 3.7 percent, up from an even 3 percent in May and down from 4.8 percent a year ago.

The unemployment rate in Trigg County was 4.8 percent, down from 4.1 percent in May and down from 6.3 percent one year ago.

Muhlenberg County had the region’s highest unemployment rate at 6.6 percent.

The state average was 4.2 percent and the national number was 3.8 percent.
