In a summer of heat waves, one is cranking back up in western Kentucky again this week and a Heat Advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday.
High temperatures in the upper 90’s will combine with humidity to create heat index values up to 110 Wednesday afternoon.
Todd County Public Health Director Jen Harris says if you must work outdoors in the heat, be sure to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and take frequent breaks indoors or in the shade.
It’s also a good idea to wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothing outdoors.
Never leave a human being or pet in a hot car for any period of time and be sure outdoor pets have a constant source of water and a shady place to take refuge from the heat.
The extreme heat will return for the weekend, with highs Friday through Sunday to be in the upper 90’s.
