Oak Grove Police continue to investigate a fatal shooting from early Thursday morning on Pembroke-Oak Grove Road.
As previously reported, Christian County Coroner Scott Daniel says 32-year old Martavious Briggs of Clarksville was found at the front porch of a home in the 9200 block of Pembroke-Oak Grove Road and he died from a single gunshot wound.
Oak Grove Police Detective Chris Aldridge says while it’s believed Briggs was shot at the location where he was found, investigators do not believe the murder was in any way related to that home.
He says police believe the shooter may have exited a vehicle in the area and fired at Briggs, but that remains under investigation.
Detective Aldridge said he was finishing up the processing of the scene and was set to interview potential witnesses and other individuals Thursday.
One person was arrested near the crime scene, but has not been charged with the shooting.
A vehicle matching a description given by a witness pulled up to the scene a few minutes before 2 a.m. and a man who matched the description of a potential suspect was in the passenger seat, according to an arrest citation.
As officers were attempting to get the man out of the vehicle, 35-year old Jemonte Ingram of Clarksville allegedly fled on foot and ran down the road until he was soon caught.
Ingram allegedly threatened to injure the arresting officer after being placed in a cruiser.
He’s charged with fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest and intimidating a participant in a legal process.
Anyone with information on the murder of Briggs should call Oak Grove police at 270-439-4602.
